Going bigger.
Yup you read it right. Most of you know I have an FP 18g CHRA in a stock fitting TDO5H housing and well I am just thinking that well I might want bigger. LIke everything in my setup is capable of handling a lot more power and I don't want to have to swap turbos for something bigger again. I haven't even put this turbo on yet but I already think I know I am going to want at least a 50 trim. There is really nothing stopping me from going that route save some bigger injectors which I am getting anyways for possible use with E85. I am pretty torn right now I just want to mod once and do it right. So far I haven't been doing that I have been incrementally increasing and its costing me mad dough. IE 550s 720s possibly now 1150s???? Walbro 190 now I have 255hp. E316g, FP 18g, Now I'm thinking 50 trim plus, SAFC to DSMLINK etc etc. I think I just might take the leap to something I know I am going to want and be happy with. I'm not sure that will be the 18g, Infact I am almost certainly sure. If I could max that 18g out then I would be happy but I doubt I would make it. I think a 50 trim at reasonable boost levels would put me in the right spot 400whp where I am seriously contented.
Let Me Know what you think>?

Yea I am with you on that man. I was wanting a 50 trim as well and was actually getting ready to buy it until my buddy that was taking out his pte scm 61, put his up for sale. Ive been pretty satisfied with the e316g but, yeah like all setups they get old after awhile and you eventually want more. I do feel ya on the modding twice. Im switching my 190 with a 255 and my 550s for some 780s.

Dont mean to hijack the thread but when do you plan on changing your 550s out?
Will the 18g not make 400whp? On E85 you should almost be able to get that on the 16g. If you are going to want more power soon then I would say go ahead and invest in a 50 trim if the funds are there. No need to install the 18g if your not going to be satisfied with the power for long.

I wouldnt expect 400 on a normal car. If you want 400 whp on moderate boost levels, I think a 60-1 is what you need to be looking for. If you want 400 to not be 100% max, but not far off then I'd say s SBR 60 trim or various PTE 57 and 60 trim models would be good candidates. 400 whp can be done on a 50 trim, but I think its going to have to be a pretty aggressive setup.

The 550's are already out and sold. The 720's are in the car right now and they will be pulled soon for the 1150s.
I have considered the bigger turbos even looked at the fp gt30hta which provides incredible power and spool for its size. However the price is what really inhibits me from considering one of those. But this is still going to be my daily driver and I can't completely sacrifice bottom and midrange power that is why I was thinking 50 ish trim. I don't mind having an aggressive setup really only thing that that can hurt is the turbo by working it too hard. My 16g has held out nicely basically being pushed as hard as will go for about 40k.
The e85 is a future plan but its not around here just yet.
Thor I know you were looking at 50 trims what did you decide were the pros and cons of the various ones you looked at.

So you haven't even put the 18g on yet and your already wanting to change it? I think I'm gonna stick with mine for a long while before I do anymore upgrading. If I keep it anyways...

Mine right now is the fp gt30HTA
Yes I haven't even put it on.
I see a for sale thread of a fp3065 with o2 and lines and dp and mani for 1300 its a steal if its in good shape. Does anyone know if that turbo is at all streetable. When it spools?

Not sure, but the 3065 is supposed to be a pretty awesome turbo from what I've read.

Well, I'd say a GT35R is streetable, so I wouldnt think a GT30 would be bad at all. From what I understand, the FP3052 is a bit bigger than a 50 trim, but not quite a 60-1. Do it up son. That is a pretty solid price for all that, I'd say hop up on it if you have the urge/money.
EDIT: Stevie, as far as 50 trims go, its pretty well accepted that the FP green is king. The only problem, they are expensive as fuck. IMO the PTE is probably the second best option. I, however, am looking for a SBR G50. They are cheap new and even cheaper used, plus they can manage like 450whp. I just cant justify twice the price for a green when you'd only pick up an extra 30-40ish whp max. Actually, if you wanted you could go with a G60 they are cheaper than the G50, I'm not because they max around 500 or a little more and I definately dont want that kind of power. I'd stray from the V-trim, SBR had a head to head test and the V-trim didnt put out what I thought it would.
