Sparkplug removal stuck plug

1998 Dakota with the 3.9L V-6, 75K miles. Front plug on drivers side is stuck. Apparently stuck for some time (I just got the truck) since when I try to turn it the sparkplug socket will slip over what I am guessing are somewhat rounded off corners.

I've been soaking it with penetrating oil and Deep Creep over the last several days, but it still won't budge. Mostly I've attempted removal when cool to moderately warm engine, but I've been told a hot, recently run engine might be best.

I know to be cautious since I don't want to damage the plug in place, and the engine runs well enough, no CEL codes, etc.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Try doing it when the motor is warmed up. Sometimes the expansion from the heat will help loosen it up. Hope this helps! John

Any update?

None yet, we have been soaking regularly with various penetrating oils and waiting. Engine runs fine, so we are reluctant to do anything that would require a lot of additional work.

FWIW: Ford is having a similar problem in some of it's later model 3 valve per cylinder V-8's. They had been recommending a Ford penetrating oil, a special tool and procedure, now they are suggesting a carburetor cleaner as the penetrant since the carb cleaner contains carbon solvents and in these engines it's carbon deposits trapping the plug.
