How to get a nice quiet ride again..

Okay, so my 98 GTP has almost 120,000 miles on it, so this is probably futile, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Everytime I hit a bump or pothole, it sounds like the bottom is going to fall out of the car. Just noisy as hell. I've had some suspension work done and it's no better.

I've gotten new struts and strut mounts, 2 new hub assemblies, new tires, 2 new wheels and I had the dealer look at the control arm bushings, tie rods, ball joints and stabilizer bars, and they say they're all in good shape.

Does anyone have any other advice on what I might do or have the shop look at to get rid of the noise?

Check the exhaust hangers. They are basically big rubber o-rings, and stretch with age allowing the exhaust to move around and hit the bottom of the car when going over bumps.

The noise is more or less a big loud rumble throughout the whole front of the car. It's really hard to explain other than the fact that it's just noisy all around the front, and doesn't seem to be isolated to any specific area. I drive my wife's trailblazer going over the same bumps and it's nice a quiet.

The struts I assume were Delco's as they were put on at the Pontiac dealer.

I'm sure it has something to do with the age of the car and probalby not much I can do about it. On smooth roads, everything is good.

Age of the car really shouldn't make any difference. I don't get that sound with my GTP and it is a '97 model. Hard to imagine this so called rumble sound. :dunno: Was the car ever in an accident? Have them check the condition of the bushings where the subframe mounts to the front end and rear unibody. There are 4 points. Also check torque on the bolts. Only other suggestion would be to check the height of the strut coil springs to make sure they are not worn out. But that has to be done with the strut assembly removed from the car and struts removed.
