hey everyone i have a very good question.
is it possible to drift a FWD car?
the answer that i have come up with is yes. i have a 1998 spyder turbo that is the 2.4L motor but turbo. i also had to get a better clutch. i am in the process of doing the suspention and i got the springs and sway bars, what else can i do? in all farness i do believe that a fwd can do this becuse i have been at this little place that i found in my home town and it is drift central but anyway is there a way to make this better? just let me know please:evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol:

You are not drifting in a fwd car. You are sliding which is not really controlable.

so how we got on the topic of traying i will never know? what is the definition of drifting i mean ya i pull the e-break and dump the clutch and the back end slides out and that is drifting is it not? i am working on the video right now it is possible i think so. in response to the traying comments that shit is so gay :loser: and every one who does it needs to find a nice long turn and slide it like a man
any way thanks agian for the turbo site VG, helped alot look for that video soon

Not so much as drifting, and CERTAINLY not as much as e-brake sliding a FWD and calling it drifitng.:nono:

Drifting is where you using the power of the car to slide. The backend has to "push" the car through. Pulling the ebrake on a FWD locks that back up and then just drags. Ya you can get sideways, but how are you going to actually drift then? You need the rear wheels to push the car through.
How stuff works.com has some interesting articles on exactly what it is.

yes VG the turbo is on and running great. i love the power that is has now.:grinno: :grinno:
i never said any where in the oringal post anything about traying and e-break sliding is holding the e-break up and just sliding. i kno people with rwd cars that use the e-break to drift. i just use it to get it side ways then i use the "power" of my car to pull not push me through the drift.:banghead:
use ur head and think i kno that it is possible some way never the less sliding around a turn at 65 mph is still fun :evillol:

Think about the physics of this one.
You're turning and you pull the ebrake.
The backend slides out.
You turn your direction.
If ebrake is still pulled, the tires are locked and just slowing down the car. FWD pulling the car, while the RWs are stopping it = No drift.
If ebrake is down, tires are free but car is pulling, not pushing = No drift.
Take a video of you doing this and post it up. I would like to see. And I'm not trying to be mean about it so don't get your panties in a bunch. Just show what you're talking about.

This is classic. "Pull my car". LOL!
Good to see that the same things that happened years ago still happen today. The sad part is, there are less and less DSMs each day. Shit like this is just wasting a precious resource.
Buy a Nissan, save a DSM.

that is fine i am working on getting the camera now but i am not holding the e-break up just up and down to start the slide or drift so i hold the speed that i am at and physics (spelling??) really dude how you going to type that like you have any clue what you are talking about in that subject

I've been modifying cars since you were learning long division. Quiet with the "you don't know" garbage, son.
You CAN NOT drift a FWD car. You can induce a slide and pretend, but it IS NOT drifting.

E-braking is about as closely related to drifting as a cow is to a horse. Not all drifters use the e-brake all the time either, REAL drifts can be initiated by the e-brake, footbrake, or just raw power. Real drifting is sustainable and controllable, what you're doing is neither. As much fun as it may be, its dangerous and its not real drifting, nor is real drifting possible in a FWD.

isn't e-braking the most common way to start the drift. sure you have your power overs and faints but when you watch videos that are inside the cockpit they seem to be showing the driver pull the e-brake. i found this video on drifting on youtube.

You power through a drift, therefore you cannot drift in a FWD.
Sure, you can slide around hairpins, but that's simply locking up the rear wheels, as opposed to them spinning while you're going around the hairpin.

dont know why so many ppl bash civics they are good cars. just because one person puts a wing the size of a small dinner table and slaps on a 4 inch exhaust tip to make it sound like a 7 billon firecrackers going off in a coffecan, doesnt mean that all of them are like that. what about the Si or type-r ? you can make thouse look good and make them fast. you could also swap in a ton of different engines.
