I would like to reset the control head to see if the AC comes back on. I would like to know how to do this. Can someone share the knowledge?

I'm not really sure what you mean by that. The AC will stop working if the system pressure falls below a certain point, there is a pressure switch. Maybe look for signs of obvious leaks in the system, like oily deposits. A black light is sometimes helpful, usually there is UV reactive stuff in the AC oil.

I think I've posted how to reset the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) on this forum before. Try performing a search on the forum for EATC.

If you don't find it, let me know and I'll post it again, hopefully I could get to it tonight. In the meantime too, you could try the steps outlined here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=716112&highlight=EATC).

Per the factory service manual for the 1995 Taurus with EATC:
Self diagnostics should be run in ambient temperatures of at least 10°C (50°F). Record all error codes displayed during self diagnostics test.
Turn ignition switch (11572) to RUN position.
Push both OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously, then press AUTO within two seconds.
The test may run as long as 30 seconds during which time the display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display window.
After about 20 seconds, a code will appear in the window.
To exit the diagnostics function, press the Blue button. When the control assembly is turned back on, the A/C air temperature control door will self-calibrate for 20 seconds.
If no DTCs are generated as a result of the self-diagnostic test (888 code is displayed), determine the symptom(s).If you get a code, post back here and I'll look it up.

From another forum I frequent

To do the self-test on the system:

Remote Climate Control Module Self-Test

The remote climate control (RCC) module self-test will not detect concerns associated with data link messages like engine coolant temperature or vehicle speed signals. A scan tool must be used to retrieve these concerns.

The RCC module self-test will detect concerns in the system control functions and will display hard diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in addition to intermittent diagnostic trouble codes for concerns that occur during system operation. The vehicle interior temperature should be between 4°-38°C (40°-100°F) when carrying out the self-test. If the temperature is not within the specified range, false in-car temperature sensor DTCs will be displayed.

The self-test can be initiated at any time. Normal operation of the system stops when the self-test is activated.

To enter the self-test, press the OFF and floor buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTO button within two seconds. The display will show a dashed line in the center of the climate control display window of the integrated control panel (ICP).

The test may run as long as 30 seconds. Record all DTCs displayed. The self-test is completed when 888 appears in the center of the climate control display window of the ICP.

If any DTCs appear during the self-test, refer to the REMOTE CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX. Carry out the diagnostic procedure given under ACTION TO TAKE for each DTC given.

If a condition exists but no DTCs appear during the self-test, refer to the SYMPTOM CHART condition: The EATC System Is Inoperative, Intermittent or Incorrect Operation.

To exit the self-test and retain all intermittent DTCs, press the "—" (cooler) side of the TEMP button. The RCC module will exit the self-test and retain all intermittent DTCs.

To exit the self-test and clear all DTCs, press the front defrost button. All RCC module DTCs will be cleared.

When I press OFF, FLOOR & AUTOMATIC it doesn't do a thing. What am I doing wrong? All it reads is OFF in the screen. Am I that dumb that can not follow instructions or the control panel is bad?:sunglasse
