Question(s), the fuseable link on my 1996 Jimmy would be located on the positive battery cable, right behind the battery, leading to the alternator. Correct?
How many wires should the fuseable link have>> IM only seeing one red one, and a slot that looks like one used to be there. If this fuseable link was bad would it in turn cause me a mess of problems when my jimmy is heated up?
I have unplugged the thing while it was running and nothing seemed to happen? It should be replaced immediatly im assuming?:banghead:
I can't seem to find any info in my trusty H book on the fuseable link. Any info would be appreciated.

if you have a burnt fusible link, you have circuits that are not operating. The link acts the same as an inline fuse. pull on the wire that you think may be a fusible link,if it rips apart it is a burnt link and you need to locate the problem in that circuit and repair it before replacing the link.

well I now know it was my main fusible link. The whole wire was in bad shape, as well as the positve battery cable. There seems to be too much heat under the hood especially in the corner with the battery tray, as I have had to replace a few things on that side due to the heat. So I have replaced the whole battery cable/fusible link, the new one was much shorter so it had to be re,routed and attached with some cable ties, but the delco wires were much better quality this time around. I don't know why, but there is another hook up where the fusible link is wired into the positve cable, is this hook up for accessories.? It looks just like the one that leads down to the starter motor.
