Does anyone have a diagram or installation process to remove the freeze plug from a 1997 3000GT SOHC? I have noticed there is coolant dripping from the middle of the engine, down to the oil pan.
I took it to the shop, and the mechanic indicated it could be the Freeze plug or the head gasket. I haven't seen any coolant in the oil yet so it have not blown the head gasket.
Anyway, I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Thanks,

Tell the mechanic to pressure test. It could be something as simple as a leak in a hose and its just making its way down the back of the engine.
Sounds like you have a lazy mechanic.

there are more than 1 freeze plug. If i'm not mistaken, the engine will basically need to be pulled out for them to be replaced. However, I agree with stealthee, the odds of a freeze plug leaking is very slim, I would bet on it being something else.

Thank you both for your suggestion. It was the Water Pump that's leaking away.
So, I am going to go ahead and perform a Timing Belt/Water Pump/Tensioner Pully/all accessories belts/Spark Plugs, sell my first born, etc, etc...
:icon16:
I used to own a stealth, and I did the above tune up. Since then I have sold my Air compressor, which I used to losen that nasty A$$ nut from the timing Pully, since I don't have the Mitsu special tool to losen the darn thing..That was 6 years ago.. the 3000GT is SOHC, which I hope it will be little bit easier..
So I guess I need to go buy the tool... any of you guys have done the Timing job lately, and can provide any other suggestions on how to get it loose?

Place breaker bar in hole of crank pulley bolt and jam against control arm.
Bump starter. (Bump is the key word)
Voila bolt is loose.
When it comes to tightening it I have an easy solution. The SOHC crank pulley has slots in it. You can jam a pry bar of some sort in there and let it jam against the control arm on the other side to allow you to tighten it to spec.
