I am a first time owner of a 2000 lincoln town car signature series. I need help on how to find the starter and the best way to replace it. Do you have to remove the front tire or any motor mounts? Is it difficult to do yourself or should I take it to a shop?

I would buy a discounted starter + maybe have someone install it.
Check EBAY ''Lincoln Town car starter''
Always get a 2nd + 3rd opinion
CAUTION - Always make sure all bolts are right + tight, the starter needs a
good grnd connection.
The only work on do on my back is Sex!

What are your symptoms?
Other components in the starting circuit can cause starting difficulties.
Starter Motor / Solenoid
Ignition Switch
Digital Transmission Range Sensor
Mini ISO Relay
Visual Inspection List:
Mechanical
Starter Motor
Starter Solenoid
Brackets
Electrical
Battery
Fuse 21 (15A)
Damaged wiring harness
Loose or corroded connections
This is a three bolt starter, where the third bolt is said to be difficult to access. Some folks claim they can get at the third bolt with long extensions and swivel joints on their tools.
Prior to removal, you'll remove a Solenoid protector cover (which happens to also hold the trannie cooler lines) and slide this off to the side to get at the Solenoid wires / nuts. If you've done it before on any car, this is a piece of cake.. as mentioned earlier, clean and tighten everything well.
