This is the first model that I have built in about 4 years. I decided to put the Chevelles and Integras down for a while and build a few trucks.

This was quite the refresher course for me haha. Some of the paint schemes are unorthodox, but that's just the car fanatic in me coming out. I was psyched to see how detailed the model's the cummins TT set up was. I was going for red accents on the kit hence the red bolts and the red turbine half housing. I was not able to do the flip up wind deflector because the mold wasn't filled all the way to some of the frame is missing.

I can see why Revell took this off the line for a while, the molds must be getting really old because some of the parts where pretty shoddy and needed a lot of TLC to get them looking realist. For the life of me I was not able to get the exhaust downpipe to line up with the midpipe for the stacks, but it's pretty well hidden.

All in all this was a blast to build, I've loved trucks (Pete's especially) and tractors since I was a little kid. I wish they had more models out there thought! If I win the lotto I am starting a model company that builds just trucks and construction tractors.

Anyways the pics:

Admin can you please move this to the Completed Models thread? I didn't realize that there was a sub category.
Thanks.

Thank you.

I love your quote, so true!

If you hunt you can find these on line for 26-30 bucks. PM me and I can send you some links for sites that have them if you want.

My parents drove long-haul across the USA for a few years in the 1980s (in fact that is how they met) and the truck they used was almost identical to this (in appearance, anyway...can't remember what engine was in it). Nice looking build!

Very cool. Great work, and a clean finish on such a big model. I doubt I'd have the patience to bring it together so nicely! I dig the paint and the red bolts and things are a pretty nice touch, too.

Great build! We definitely need more trucks here on AF.

I built the same model many years ago and remember that fit'n'finish are not really that good. Makes your build even more respectable!

Nice rig, Stephen. What color is this? Looks like Gun Metal.
As for amount of Big Rig kits - Italeri used to make a great amount of truck kits:

Unfortunately for now they producing only a Peterbilt 378 from US range.

The can said metallic black. I was thinking about getting that 378 kit. With some adjustments it can be made into a 379 also.

This is exactly what I'm gonna do.
