Splitter material

Does anyone know what kind of plastic the front splitter is made from or has anyone tried another type of material?

You can purchase the splitter material from BSR products. There part #
BSR 5002PS4 Plastic Skirting 4.50 X 9ft. www.bsrproducts.com (http://www.bsrproducts.com). If you could move this under parts info. It would help I don't know how. Thanks

Has anyone come up with a way to make it easily / quickly removable? I'd like to be able to take it off for loading / unloading. I was thinking of dzus fasteners with some .040" aluminum on the backside of the fascia to help reinforce the mount.

The black plastic is ABS, and can be purchased from any general plastic distributor. I purchased a sheet (4' x 8') from Regal Plastics, and had a couple of strips cut. It cuts easily with a table saw or skill saw. A small toothed blade works best. THe whole sheet was only $35.
I like the idea of making the air dam removable. I seem to drap it just about every time I put the car on the trailer. I think that you'll need some kind of backing material (aluminum) to keep it's shape, or a gazillion Dzus fasteners. My nose section was swiss cheesed pretty badly, so finding enough space for more fasteners might be problematic.

^ My trailer is a low deck unit made by sweet rivers trailers specifically for low cars and hot-rods. The deck is 4" lower than a standard car trailer. Even still I have to use long wooden ramps that we used to use to put a lawn mower in the back of my dad's old truck to get the Panoz on the trailer. The Z06 would load up w/o any extra ramps and it's lowered 1.5" from factory.

I put some eye hooks on the ramps. I then slide them under the car inside of the wheels, then push them outward to each side so they're agains the insides of the tires. I then use tie down straps to pull them outward and tie the straps to the trailer stake pockets. This keeps the ramps pushed against the tires and makes for easy transport.

Plus they were "free".... which is nice considering the cost of aluminum extra ramps these days... only downside is they're a little heavy.

Hi Jim, I poked around for a while before giving up and just kept seeing this kind of info. Apparently an outfit called CV Products bought a lot of their remaining inventory. Might be worth a call to them to see if they have it.

ABS is cheaper, but cracks. UMVW used in the bottom of dump trucks to keep from sticking, use as chain idlers,it wears better than steel on ground engaging tillage plows, etc is much stronger and as easy to work with but will cost more. I can get it from Lubbock tx, but freight is the problem. See if you have a local plastic (industrial or agriculture related supply) source. (this stuff would work for skid plates under the car it's that tough..no pretty sparks though!) Bill

We just pop rivet our on and count on a new one from Panoz every season. Have matching red rivets now!

We stopped using the front bolts that hold the nose down in front and just to side of the center air intake ("grill"). Fill the holes now and added a couple of inches to the under support. Now the nose will float a little over some bumps, dips, and trailer ramp w/o cracking the nose. Held into position under aerodynamic load.

the plastic is called KYDEX and can be bought from lots of places. I buy them from PAD.
