Jetta Trunk Leak 1992

I have a 1992 Jetta GL and the trunk is always getting wet, before I start digging into it, I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what it is? I know a lot of VW's have water leaks and I am sure someone has faced this problem before. So share the info with me please

There is an trough between the back window and the trunk that is forward of the seal. make sure that it's clear of debris. Make sure that the drain channel tubes for the sunroof haven't disconnected or dry rotted and are leaking into the trunk. Check to make sure they are clogged.

Okay, I'll take a look again, I think I already made sure this area was free of debris, plus I do not have a sunroof in the 1992 MK2 Jetta, but I am sure others do and probably have this similair problem so it all helps out, thanks for the replay

One additional thing that may help is to glue the weather stripping down that surrounds the trunk. Contact cement is recommended by many, but I found that for this application that black engine gasket sealer works well. At the time I did it hat was all I had on hand. Necessity is a mother.
