i put my timing chain cover on this morning and the felpro gasket is "crinkled" on the outside edge of the cover. i torqued the nuts on the studs to about 8 pound-feet. is it ok if the part of the gasket that is showing on the outside is crinkled like that or will i have to replace it and try to use less torque?

hi there, no need to tighten them very much, no tighter than with valve cover bolts/nuts
crinkled sounds like it was already out of place before putting any of the screws through it
hmm
ive never had such a problem like that, nor heard of it
very interesting
dont forget to RTV the corners at the front oil pan seal ends
good luck
