2000 taurus 24V duratec, 60K miles with SES light on: after reading all the DPFE, differential pressure feedback EGR, sensor problems and the factory Technical service bulletin reference in the forums, I changed it with a Niehoff FE5031 from Kragen for about $40 and the "service engine soon" light turned off within a day. Getting the sensor off takes a lot of wiggling of the rubber tubes.
But the EGR code was still set when i went for the smog test a few days later and they would not pass the vehicle. So I am waiting a few more days of use to see if it will reset without disconnecting the battery.
However, will the code reset by itself, as suggested by the smog tester?

You can go to your local parts house and they might erase the code for you. The system will reset itself, but it takes a few key on cycles and drive cycles. Having it erased witha scan tool, you need to drive it for 2 drive cycles to have all the monitors reset.
