2007 silverado with 1998 tracrack

I have an 07 silverado, I know a tracrack from a 98 wont fit, But I was thinking of drilling new mounting holes into the base rails. Has anyone done this? The theory seems simple, as long as I line them up right. Or could I just line them both up and bolt them to the bed rails?
