I've spent an ungodly amount of time and money over the past 2 years on my rodeo's ac unit. New evaporator, pipe connecting compressor and evaporator, five charges with dye to find leaks etc. Anyway, I turned it on for the first time this year and nothing again. Compressor is working. Any ideas other than looking for a new leak?

Usually if a system loses it's freon charge, the compressor won't turn on at all.
