quick and stupid question

hello i have lost yet another clutch do to an oil leak. just got the car back together and need this baby on the road this weekend. the motor is a mini me. question is how much power will the stock clutch hold. i am probly over thinking this but im so sick of taking this dam trans out. will i be fine with a stock one?. i lost a stage 2 and a stage 3 now and do not want to wait for shipping. what kind of hp can be run through a stock clutch. sorry if this is just random babbling but thats all i can produce right now. thanks Paul

about 160-180 on stock clutch.

stock clutch should be more than fine for a mini-me i would think

ICK on the stage 3....requires more pressure than a damn freightliner to get it to the floor, stage 2 isnt too bad though...although these opinions are based on how things were 4-6 years ago when i had my 89 and 91 hatches....so things might be alot different now.... sorry for the blurb...just got off work and im wide awake!

i have litteraly had them all oem, stage 1,2,3. yeah the stage 3 was stiffer that the rest but i dont see all the fuss about how hard it was to dissengage the clutch. it was my daily driver for about 10,000 miles with that clutch and i had no problems. hell my 88 corrola has a stiffer clutch pedal and thats a hydro clutch

if you get a clutch that's too stiff for your foot, you can just change the spring on the pedal, just make sure that it's strong enough to hold the pedal up when you're done.

This will help out a lil w/ the pressure required to push the pedal down... there are also several "leverage" mods that you can do to the pedal itself to make life easier if you're in traffic alot.

i can see the leverage mod helping out but i dont see the pedal spring helping at all. the pressure it takes to dissenage the clutch is decided mostly by the belleville spring that is used on the pressure plate to provide clamping force on the cluch disk to the flywheel. are these "leverage mods" a home made thing or does sombody actually make this? just curious. the stock clutch that i am currently driving on is like,how to phrase this, well i will say a marshmellow compared to stage 3 that i am coming from in both pedal effort and engagement. it just feels so wierd to me

That pedal spring doesn't help much, but it does take a lil bit of force away... that one really isn't worth the effort to change it...

The leverage mods aren't produced that I know of, I've done them homebrew before... there are a couple things you can do, the first one is just lengthening the bottom of the pedal a bit, and moving the new section out closer to you.

There are a few other methods, but you can be inventive and figure something out of you really have to.
