Been in one when the owner was doing it. Of course, we didn't call it drifting. It was just going sideways around these cones we'd laid out in a dry empty dirt field. But it was easy to do. Rear engine, rear wheel drive cars with unsophisticated swing-arm rear suspensions can slide the tail out easily. But that was how the guy was working on his gravel rally technique. He competed in 2WD SCCA rally events with a 1974 Super Beetle until he rolled the thing.

considering that a VW bug is rwd and rear engined, it'd be no different than drifting a porsche 911, or any other rwd car...
the cars are old though, and the steering may not be quick enough to keep up with quick transitions, but it'll do the job.
