Error code P0141, 3.8 v6 Regal 2001

Hello,

The "service engine soon" light came on and stayed on on my Regal 2001 series II v6.

Took it to a friend of mine who used his code reader he says the error code is P0141.

If i read it correctly this is a oxegen sensor.

Does anyone know which one?

Or how i can find replace it?

Is it a big job, do i need special tools?

I allways like to try stuff myself first.

The DTC is a 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction. It is a heated 02 sensor. One referenced is the post CAT converter 02 sensor (bank 1, sensor 2). It is located in that u-bend section of exhaust pipe you see between the CAT converter and resonator. Check the electrical connector to it first. To remove it all you need is a universal 02 sensor socket with the wire cutout or a 7/8" wrench since clearance is limited.

How did you make out with this?

Check the wiring as BNaylor mentioned. If it's good then you can verify the O2 sensor's operation using a scope. If you can't do that then you may be better off just replacing the sensor (remember check the wiring first though!).

I should have mentionend i had problems with this sensor about 1.5 years ago, the light came on and when i checked the wiring had come lose, i reconnected and got my friend to clear the error and it was ok.

However, this time the wirring was fine. I cleanend it with wd-40 just in case, but that didn't do anything.

I could not get the car lifted high enough to get my tools to the sensor, so in the end i took it to my mechanic. Replaced it with a GM (AC Delco) part and all is fine now.
