(Apology for the profanity in the title. Rough day.)
So on my way home from work i notice this late 2000s model sebring tailgating me. i give him a break check and he guns it around me and stares me down. His girlfriend or something of that sort is in the passenger seat staring at my car. She knows which one had balls :) but the guy driving didnt. He cuts me off getting into my lane and damn near hits me. So, already pissed off from work, i decide to play with this little bastard.
He turns and i follow. I stay right on him through residential areas, and he eventually gets the point. He pulls on to (yep you guessed it) South Washington street. He lets me get next to him, but doesnt wait for me to honk it down. He simply hammers it and goes, if you can call what he was doing "going"
I smile and drop it to second.
The SS takes off like a bat out of hell. I have NEVER felt her pull that hard, this was something very different than what im used to. I must have found the sweet spot in 2nd, but i dont remeber where i was at exactly. Around 30 i think. The Sebring had roughtly 2 cars on me when i got on it. Approximately 3 seconds later i had eliminated his head start and pulled a few cars. By the time i let off i had ripped him a new asshole, pulling a royal 8 cars ATLEAST. i turn to go back home, and he of course follows me. I get next to a middle school and the guy does a ricer flyby, nearly taking out an oncoming car.
Pulls up to the light, the girl is grinning ear to ear and waves at me. The guy looked like he just had a visectomy (sp?) that went horribly wrong, and found out he was the father of his mom's next child.
That was the lift i needed after the conundrum at work. Racing keeps my blood flowin' :icon16:

Yeah i tried to change the title but couldnt figure out how :( sorry about that, wont happen again.
We have a huge number of GTPs here, some of them are ridiculously fast. i know of atleast one that runs 13s. I would love to run one of the modded ones here, but most are in hiding as of late and the others are driven by older guys with no intent of racing.

The Cobalt's sweet spot is second gear at 40 mph. 3rd gear at 75-80 pulls nicely as well.
Nice run, nice kill.

just a word of advice, try not to be so cocky - there are many cars on the road that would severely humble you.

I do race things with more, look at my WRX post, that thing was a beast. Im not afraid to lose, I just seem to end up with the slow cars. I want to race some nice ones, lose or not. I am a car enthusiast, and I like to see nice cars in action, even if it is at my expense.
and I am far from cocky, I just have fun with people who start shit with me. I will never pull up next to you and rev at you and drive like a retard who thinks he is hot shit. Not that kind of guy. I actually want someone to kill me badly, so i can look at his car afterwards :) I just make my stories a little bit more than they need to be. But hey, all in good fun. But I can see where you are coming from.
So if anyone decides to come to North Dakota, bring the fastest thing you got. We dont have much to choose from up here, and I want to get my ass kicked by something with twice my HP. :)

that's good to hear man,, i like your attitdude i was just being falsely presumptuous that you had that "fast and the furious" mind-set, where having a license + a sports car means you own the streets. but yeah it's definately good to lose now and then just to keep your ego in check, and remember no matter how much $$ you pour into your car, there's ALWAYS gonna be somthin just a little bit faster out there.
have fun and stay safe

How would you like to tell your momma you was whupped by an old man?
I waited until I was 47 to buy my WRX, you whippersnapper.
By the way, does your WRX have at least a protuned VF39 setup for 100 extra horsepower over stock? Because if it doesn't, between my WRX and the Cobalt, you will be holding down 3rd place.
By the way, to a teenager, you are old. You yourself implied you are no longer young. Welcome to the club, "old man."

I appreciate your respecting my age and wisdom. No arthritis, by the way. I think my shifting is OK; I can rev match, heel/toe, launch, etc.
Well, anyway, I am going to go to the track after school is out for the year, and try the 1/4. When I do, I'll post my time, and we'll see whose shifts are better. You are driving a manual, correct?

Stock 2006 WRX, Mustang Dyno: 177whp/204wtq
Present: 260whp/280wtq, same dyno. Mods include STi intercooler, Helix catted downpipe, Sti catback, VF39 turbocharger from an STi, boost control solenoid, protune. Boost is 19psi tapering to 14 at redline. Compared to similar Imprezas, this should be good for high 12's (no arthritis) to low 13's (with arthritis).

I've surprised a few BMW's who have tried to cut me off in freeway entrance lanes. No chance at an STi yet. Hopefully I'll at least get a shot at one when I go to the track.
The general consensus about the stronger 06-07 (compared to earlier years) tranny seems to be it is pretty safe for up to 350 horespower -- as long as you don't bang your shifts or launch from 7000 rpm.
If someone wanted to give me an STi 6-speed tranny, I wouldn't turn it down, however.

Subieskier- sounds like you've done pretty much ever thing to your car that I would like to possibly do some day. You probably have just enough to beat me. :) What tires are you running by the way. The stockers are some of the worst tires I have ever had the pleasure of driving straight on with the wheel on full lock. They just plain suck. I have always thought the gear ratios are too close on the STI. Yeah they are great if you are racing, but how often are we racing I mean really. If I bought this thing as a racecar I would have bought a Camaro or a Mustang. As for the comment on the tranny. You would have to slam through the gears like a mad fool to break it. It's the brakes and tires that I always worry about.
As for the comment about sebrings being slow. I think this is the only car that has not been successfully modified to be fast. Oh wait, there is the Dodge Avenger too.
P.S. I was going to bring it, but The-Stig is obviously concerned about the well-being of the boards older members.

LS1+FD=awesome, but i still love the sound of a rotary hitting around 8k RPMs.... and yes, I am not one to start fights but if some guy tries to get cute in a slow car then I am going to give the dude a Supercharged, big-winged lesson in common courtesy.
And a comment about older drivers.... google Time Attack cobalt ss. look at the guy who drove that thing. he kicked the living crap out of numerous twenty-somethings in their superior cars. That guy knew what he was doing.
and since this thread IS about my car i figured i would let you guys know I put in some halo projector headlights. i will post pictures at some point, they look sick as hell i must say. And a comment about older drivers.... google Time Attack cobalt ss. look at the guy who drove that thing. he kicked the living crap out of numerous twenty-somethings in their superior cars. That guy knew what he was doing.
You aren't supposed to tell them they are better :headshake
You have so much to learn. Our only chance it to make them feel too bad about there age to compete. Old guys are better at alot of things because they have more experience. And now, they have blue pills that fix some of the "softness" that comes with old age.

P.S. I was going to bring it, but The-Stig is obviously concerned about the well-being of the boards older members.
Yeah, last time we had a guy bring it we lost 663 members in a horrific internet accident involving tire irons, mayonaise and a donkey show from Tijauna, Mexico.
Horrific I say.
I'm just here to keep the peace... :uhoh:

Speaking of better, you asked about my RE92's. Worst piece of crap tire I have ever driven. They drive and grip like they are made out of soap.
I did replace them, due to one ingesting a bolt it found in the road.. Couldn't be fixed -- and with the AWD, all tires are supposed to be the same wear. You can't just pop on one new one. So I gratefully took the opportunity to replace all four with some on-sale Federal SS-595's, a very grippy tire often used in drift competitions.
Night and day; these tires grip. I think my present state of tune on the car would be dangerous with the RE92's.

I like them when I want the back end to come out on me. My last car was a 1999 Honda Accord EX. I used to live by the Wind River Canyon in Thermopolis Wyoming(greatest 12 miles of driving road in the world IMO). After I bought my car I took it to the canyon only to learn that my Honda could go through the turns at a higher rate of speed without losing traction. I was puzzled by this until I learned about how poor the tires are. I only have 15k on mine and they are wearing terribly well. I might have to sneak out of the house one night and slash my tires. They weren't bad in the snow though. Until I tried to stop

Amazing how much tires will kill the abilities of a car. I have 0.002% tread left on mine, and I will slide out of corners that my Honda could probably take at the same speed. Plus, I cant launch the thing at ALL or I will burn through first at half throttle. Its bad... But damnit tires are so damn expensive! Cant imagine AWD guys having to buy a new set every time you fuck up a tire :(
