Adjusting timing

This is weird, but I got all the info I needed to adjust timing in my 1998 1.0L Metro right here in these forums and over at TeamSwift. The only problem is that I cannot find this diag connector to jump in order to set timing. I even double checked the info on my shop computer and it says the same thing..............

The connector is located near the left strut tower.
Even the sticker under the hood tells me what pins to jump, but I have searched all over for it and cannot find it. Please help if you know of an alternative location for this plug. Here is a pic of my LF strut tower area.................

Yours Johnny, being a '98, will have this connector on the passenger side, under the dash behind the glove box and near the PCM, instead of near the strut tower, as on earlier models.

JM, did you ever get the car timed? I have a 98 Firefly 3 cyl and found a 6 pin plug behind the glovebox near the ECM. I shorted the proper pins and there was no change. I hooked up my laptop to the OBDII connector and read the timing. I then played with the timing setting with the distributor and the data on the scanner changed accordingly. I ended up setting my timing based on the scanner data.It didn't matter whether the 6 pin plug was shorted or not.:banghead:

If you have any other observations maybe you could pass them on. The motor has the crank sensor on it and the ECM controls the timing so maybe that's how they set the timing; with a scanner.:2cents:
