vac reduction?

what exactly is the point/benifit of doing a vac reduction? sorry if this has been disscused already, i looked didnt see anything

the purpose is to get rid of the mess of vacuum hoses behind the throttle body and reduce the number of places of getting a possible boost leak

almost all those vac lines have to do with the EGR system. If you can get past your state inspection without it, getting rid of it will improve both performance and fuel economy, and like hotshot said, get rid of all the mess and possible boost leaks.
