I am getting rid of my 1989 grand prix 2.8 liter and have half a tank of gas in it. I want to take the gas out off it and syphoning is not working. Is there some where to disconnect
the fuel line inside the engine compartment and use the fuel pump to empty the tank. Thanks in advance, Roger

Yes there is, but you need a fuel pressure guage.
Hook it to the fuel rail, then locate either the fuel pump relay, or sometimes GM puts a fuel pump lead somewhere in the engine compartment. Its usually red. You can either jumper the contacts of the relay, or you can connect this red wire to B+ and the pump will run.

You can also jack the rear of the car and support it on stands, disconnect the fuel filter on the engine side and attach a rubber hose running to your gas cans. Turning the pump on can be done safely as previously suggested since you are totally away from anything electrical.
