So i finally got time to test drive today and it seemed to run just fine up the road. Drove it 2 miles at 65 mph, ran perfect. then i turned around and stopped, and then sped back up to 65 toward my house and then she started to act up again. it wasnt to bad this time. the rpm was moving the exact way the mph gauge was moving if rpm was at 4.5 then the mph was at 50 i belive. so they were at the same angle and when i slowed down they stayed the same to. Im guessing if i turn it off and back on everytime i come to a stop it will not do that. I havent done anything to it yet and no trans codes poped out. i herd a sound like something shot out the muffler tip when it started to act up though. It's almost graduation c'mon help me out.:smokin:

My gf's dad is a pro/super pro dragster and he said it is probably electrical not mechanical. He said that if it were the govenors valve sticking on my 3rd gear (drive) then my vehicle wouldnt beable to drive in reverse. then he put it in reverse and drove real fast:evillol:

I am having some issues with my JGC as well not with shifting though, it just doesn't want to go in gear as soon as I select Drive and makes some grinding noises with vibration. It will in first though but anyway I was thinking by what some friends were telling me that mine could be the torque converter, So after reading your original post it makes me think maybe it is your torque converter as well. I have no real clue though but if it is electronic it may be going bad causing the Jeep not to shift properly. Maybe some others can give you a better idea and also read my post and give me better idea as well. Hate to replace something and it NOT be the problem plus I hate to take it to a mechanic AGAIN that has no idea and wants to replace eveything under the hood to find the problem.

butterj, have you changed the trans fluid since you drove through the mud hole?
I've heard of people with trans problems changing the fluid, the problem came back after 10k miles, then they changed it again and that took care of it.
The product I've used for transmissions is Auto-RX, it works as advertised.
If changing the fluid doesn't fix it for you, you might be looking at a rebuild...220K miles is a good run for these trannies.
