I need a hand here. I have an 89 Regal that I recently got moving again. I went to move it and the keys are history. Can I replace the Ignition without having the old Keys? If I can how do I go about it? I really appriciate the help on this one.

The guide says I need to be able to put the ignition in the "Run" Position. Can I do this with out having the keys?

Nope, you will need to brake the locking pin.

We use a small slide hammer, with a screw attachment at the end, screw it into the switch and pull it out, anyway you do this can damage the lock housing, you made need some professional help with this, sometimes this type of repair is beyond a DYER.

If it's not too late - call a dealer & see if they can cut a key from the VIN.

Gm does not have records for key numbers back to 89, I tried this last year on a 92, no good, also they will not do this over the phone as you must prove you own the car.

I know someone who had it done in January for a 92 Lumina. I figured it was worth a phone call to find out.

I agree, but a phone call will not suffice, again you must prove you own the vehicle or you know an employee in a management position. as it requires a dealership authorization code to access the info.

The phone call is just to find out if they can make one for his car.
