Hey guys,I cant seem to tell wether i have a engine miss ,or tranny problem. At around 15-to 2000rpms,my 02 taurus wagon with a 3.0 litre vulcan engine seems to shake, run rough. It doesnt hesitate, there are know engine lites on,plugs and wires done 10,000 mls. ago, replaced ig. coil recnty. for high speed miss, down shifting auto tranny produces same problem, high speed it runs fine, could this be a shift modual acting up,what do you guys think.thanks o2wgn:uhoh:

Sounds like it could be an engine miss, that would likely be a less expensive fix than a tranny issue. If you have access to a scan tool that can display the Component Parameters, get into that mode and check for individual cylinder misfire counts. Even if the misfires are not high enough in counts to trigger the CEL, they may still be displayed if that's what's happening.

Many of the auto parts stores will scan codes at no charge, but I'm not sure how many of them have access to the component parameters or how many of the operators would know how to access them even if the tool is capable.

If you get a fuel pressure regulator code, replace the fuel pump. If you get a missfire code and it has new tune-up, it could be a coil or other issue.
