New problem- Anti-freeze leak

Recently with warm weather and using the air conditioner I developed a major anti-freeze leak that now happens all the time. It is coming from the back of the motor but I cannot see its source. There is no coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant. Could this possibly be the famous lower intake gasket ? I have to add quite a bit of coolant every couple days. If it is the lower intake gasket what kind of money am I looking at for repair ?

Thanks !

I'm sorry but yup, that's the infamous plastic gasket leak. Because it's so common, a general descrption to a repair shop can get you a price. Call around because the mechanics are good at replacing it quick...they've had lots of practice....
I remembered this when I purchased another SUV....emailed GM too.

Yepper. I called the GM dealer and right away he said it sounds like the typical gasket problem.

Don't take it to the dealer or you'll pay way to much. Like Chris said shop it around, some guys have got the procedure down pat and can do it in less than half of the flat rate time allowed and at half the labor rates of the dealers saving you up to 75%.

Well, I got the gaskets changed and for the first time had great heat. Also, on another post I mentioned my heater control would not change temp when the dial was turned. Also the door kept going back and forth. They fixed the problem with that also after putting it on a scanner and finding two problem codes. One being the A/C heater control module. Now it works great !:)
