Ok, I finally test drived an 2005 V yesterday and for the first time its actually around my area.
ok, So the main issue or question is that every time I shifted it, the car jerked and shifting was rough, It felt like the gear engaged but as soon as I would let go of the cluth a "dooooom" like noice came from da back of the car. It wasn't smooth at all.
So my question is: Is the shifting of the V smooth???
Is there a problem, If so what could it be???? Differencial? cluth?flywheel??
Now the deal from the dealer is this.
A 2005 CTS V for $29,000 with 30,274 miles on it.
The price includes the extended warranty up to 100,000 miles;
which I have the choice of taking that warranty off for the car to be $1000 in savings. (I will keep the warranty anyways)
how does that sound??? reasonable price?
So please please if you have any idea or
just simply wanna reply on how the shifting of a V is
it will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

I have driven a V that shifted fine. Could it be that you haven't driven a manual for a while or didn't quite get used to it in the amount of time you had with it? Anyway I'd get the warranty, they're known for blowing out rear ends. Awesome car though, and I don't know what kinds of prices cars are in your neighborhood but if that were in Minneapolis I'd offer 25K and not accept paying any more than 26K. V's are incredible. Actually, I'd offer 23 and see if they came back laughing or not. The worst thing that's going to happen is that they'll say no.

I think with a car like this you have to at least entertain the thought that maybe the previous owner hammered on it a lot. Its probably very capable of handling that but some people just don't care especially if they have the $$ to buy a new one when ever the feel like it.
Take the warranty, the rear axle are a weak link in these cars. Getrag is the manf. and Cadillac has replaced a lot of them under warranty and many have been on the V6 versions.
