Well me, torched, and another friend of mine are driving to the dealership we recently applied to to ask if we could talk to someone about getting hired. Long story, nobody cares anyways. But as we turn on to Washington (same street as the civic and grand prix races. I love this road now!) We see a black pig nosed WRX pull out in front of us. So we decide to follow him across the brigde and maybe get a race in.
We pull up next to him and ask if he wants to go. He is hesitant because he had subs in the back and thought that they might slow him down too much. I am thinking this will be a good race but a pretty sure kill on the stock WRX.
Did I say stock? I meant COBB stage 2 + lots of other shit. We ask the guy what he has and when he tells me that, i somwhat shit myself. Oh crap, this isnt going to end well.
But i decide to run it anyways. We get up to about 40 and he hammers it, no honk down or anything, but i was ready and got on it about a half a second after he did. He barely pulled right off the bat, but I bounced off the rev limiter in second and he instantly got another car length on me. We run to about 90 or so and he has roughtly 3 cars on me. WAY better than I thought i would do against that kind of a car, with 3 people and a crappy shift it wasnt too bad.
We talk to him afterwards and it turns out his car runs 13.2. On a cold day in winter he hit boost cut which is 24psi. He was at 18 when we ran it. So one hell of a fast car, looked totally stock. He has upset alot of rich guys in much more expensive cars.
Good race, i still need to get used to how long my gears are and such so i dont have a love affair with the rev limiter.
By the way GForce, We found a 2008 Bullit at the dealership we applied at. one hell of a nice car! no pictures but im sure you know what they look like.
(SIDE NOTE: Turns out my car is boosting 14psi. atleast. stock is 12psi. Factory Freak for the win :) bone stock too when we hit 14.)

If we would have been able to honk it down it would have been a little better...not to mention if you hadn't hit the rev limiter harder than an angry southern father hits a red headed bastard child! After its bouncing off for 2 seconds you should probably shift! Lol
We will find him again for sure, he was a cool guy. And I think when. He said he finished a car behind bob in the quarter, it was probably when bob was stock. Cause his STI cut a 13.1 bone stock, and I don't see the wrx hanging close to the forged internal/bigger turbo/26psi monster!

No im sure that Bob runs low 12s now. I think this guy has a stock STi give or take on his hands in WRX form. But Bob has one hell of a car with what was it? 500hp or so?
Either way, that WRX was a beast. Give me stage 2 and my header-DP and some non tractor tires and it will be a very different story haha. But now we know we can dick with stock werxs and not get our asses kicked

Stock STi's don't run 13.1's, generally. But a Stage 2 Sti (Turboback + tune) will run 12's easily. I'm guessing the guy you raced had a VF39 turbo (stock STi) turbo installed, which is why he was able to pull on you like that up top.
If Bob has 500hp then he is probably running a huge rotated turbo, perhaps a GT35. If he does have 500hp it will do a lot better than 12's. There are STi's with the stock VF39 that have gotten into the 11's.
Nice death, though. Get those mods on and try again! :evillol:

Bob ran a 13.1 bone stock, Im sure we could get the timeslip to prove it :) he is a damn good driver, but I admit when i heard 13.1 i didnt believe it. But i think his car is more like low 400hp, not quite 500hp.
Bob does have a huge turbo, not to mention modded everything else. Not sure how big it is but I want to find out. Hopefully those mods will come soon so I can find this guy again

nice loss, I like how he is afraid to race because he has subs in the trunk  .
Including myself, I have only seen 3 bullitts around here. 1 was my model, and the guy flagged me down and was amazed to see another. The other was the 08 that you saw. It looks alot closer to the movie version, and its pretty quick. I saw a mag do a 13.2 with it, but then again it was a mustang mag and they always tend to have their times a little faster then others.

I'm not sure if the wrx had a bigger turbo or not, but as for Bob's STi...he has a GT30 or 35 turbo, 3 inch turbo back i believe, intake, forged internals (on his 3rd motor...he thought it would be interesting to see if the stock fuel system would support 26 psi:shakehead), a EMS (i believe it is called UTI or something like that), and maybe a few minor things but that is all the major stuff. He gave us a ride and all i can say is WOW:iceslolan. He is an SCCA official too, so its always fun to watch him run.
To the OP, we need to find him again and go for longer in either one of our cars, and NOT hit the limiter for 189324659816560132465 seconds! Or just race a stock one:icon16:

MZR 47 first off congrats on the race, AWD isnt nearly as fast from a roll.
But your 14 PSI is more indictive of problems than anything else. PSI is a measure of resistence and nothing more. It doesnt determine horsepower it doesnt determine airflow. Turbo cars often times can boost more PSI or extra PSI because they produce boost independent of the engines speed, its based on the velocity of the exhaust. Turbos are alot more free spinning and independent of the engines RPM to produce boost. Superchargers arent. Superchargers dont come from the factory making more boost than they should. They are designed to flow X amount of air at X RPM and will always flow that, unless you physically change the supercharger parts.
You see 14 PSI is an error, plain and simple. Either your boost gauge is off or your catalytic converter is beging to go bad. Ive seen it before where a cat will go bad and this will cause boost spike increase. Remember boost is only a measure of resistence, nothing more.
Keep an eye on your boost levels, because i remember you PMing me about it a bit ago at 13 PSI. Your boost levels should only get lower in the summer due to heat and less dense air. If it gets any higher than 14 PSI id seriously have GM take a look at your cat.

I will keep an eye on it, If it is my cat i will just buy a catless DP and a test pipe maybe. But it DOES seem like our cars are faster than they should be, more psi aside. Taylor beat that SRT-4 stock for stock and pulled on the SS with full exhaust and intake. And when we ran it we were pretty much identical. (and that was Torched who sent you the 13psi pm, not me.)
But i will check up on it just to make sure it isnt something wrong with it, hopefully just a squirrely boost gauge.
and NOT hit the limiter for 189324659816560132465 seconds!
it was maybe a second, tops! lol you are blowing my poor shift way out of proportion :) yes it was a terribly long time for a race but no more than a second.
And to Gforce, that thing is pretty amazing. The machined dash, nice exhaust, sick green color, HIDs... that car would be pretty epic to drive

I took the cobalt off the line and held it...he pulled me slowly from 30. And just to compare he was also boosting 14psi, and he has vibrant header/3 inch catless dp, and 3 inch cat-back. It may just be the cool air though, because those races were a while ago...and it was cooler out when we saw MZR's cobalt hit 14. I never looked at what we hit when racing the wrx, but i k ow it was warm out that day

cool air doesnt make that kind of boost increase. Ive been driving supercharged cars now for 4 years, the most ive ever seen in extra PSI was ~2 PSI but it was -10F outside.

who knows what the deal is. I hope its nothing serious, i will get it checked soon here.
