turn signal

the driver side turn signal on my 79 z28 will come on but it won't blink. the passenger side however does blink. i would assume it is in the switch but I am new at this and would like some advice. Anyone have any?

check front and back of car. one bulb likely burnt. If both light up ,try changing flasher.

yeah i checked that and both are blinking. What would be the flasher and where is that located?

sorry i realized what you meant by flasher. It is working on the passenger side but i went ahead and changed the flasher anyway (i looked at it and it was pretty old) since it was only $3.50 and the driver side still won't blink and the passenger side is still blinking normally.

Try thumping on the lights on the side that isn't blinking (select that side first)

try changing the bulbs just for kicks .....lol. bulb is likely a # 1157 bulb. seen those screw things up before. has this just started ? how is the switch? being a `79 ,is it floppy and loose ??

well i changed the front bulb...i guess i could change the back. the switch doesnt seem floppy. i think thats what it is but i dont see how it would make the lights come on but not blink.

what happens when you put 4 ways (hazards )on ?

I think I`d check the flasher contacts for corrosion etc ,also the light sockets. swap the bulbs over just for kicks as well. this doesn`t cost anything ,maybe you`ll get lucky.

that is for sure.
hit the brakes.
see if that shows which one (you will need an assistant)

the bulbs are dual filament bulbs iirc
if one filament is broke, the flashers wont work.
look for ANY inconsistancy between the sides.
if ANYTHING is different, put a different bulb in.
bring the old bulb to autozone or napa and tell them to find you a new one.
the wrong bulb will also cause similar problems.

i dont know if f-bodys have the HD and normal flashers/bulbs, but if you get a Heavy Duty flasher and use it with normal bulbs, the flash will take much longer. if you use HD bulbs with a normal flasher it will flash very fast.
this is a problem in B-Body cars ( have one) but i dont know about F-bodys.

well changin the bulbs did not help but it did help me get my eyelid stung by a wasp haha. there was a nest between the body and tail light. swelling went away fast so no big deal but i guess its the switch
