2001 GP Brake Caliper Bracket Bolts

Has anyone removed the brake caliper bracket (not the caliper itself), like when replacing the rotors or the hubs. I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT that needs new rotors, and the service manual says not to re-use the bolts for the bracket. It looks like the new bolts come coated with threadlocker. Is this really necessary, or can I just put clean the old ones and put Loctite on them?

Thanks.

You have to remove the caliper mounting bracket to get the rotor off. You can reuse the two bolts unless the heads get rounded off during removal since the torque figure is high and they are subject to rust and corrosion. Use PBBlaster penetrating oil on the bolts before removal.

It is up to you if you desire to use threadlocker.

Thanks. I was wondering if it is ok to re-use those bolts, even though the service manual says not to. My guess is that most people just go ahead and use the same bolts.

I reuse mine. Just make sure to properly torque the bolts during re-installation. I use 60 lb-ft.
