1994 Sunbird 2.0 with 172,000 miles with a clicking noise in the head. Is this old of a car worth getting checked by a mecahnic or drive it till it quits?????

I've got a 2.0L engine that is doing the same thing. I am sure it is a lifter that is sticking. So, I added some LUCAS oil additive and the noise is almost totally gone. I am an ASE certified Master Auto Tech and I really believe in the LUCAS engine oil additive. I have had very good luck using it in my own cars.

I won't hawk any particular oil additive put I have to agree with Clutch. Try the additive first then talk to friends (this is a good place to find those). I have had numerous old cars in my life and I've always found that keeping them running was a lot better than supporting the big auto companies.
