engine assembly questions

1.) what amount of torque is required for the oil pump nut? i dont know if stock is a bolt or not, but the ARP dealy i got is actually a stud and nut instead of a bolt. how do i go about tightening it properly? do i just hand tighten the stud and torque the nut to the torque spec?

2) what would i use in the way of assembly lube, such as for the oil pump driveshaft, lifters, pushrods, ect?

Be sure the stud doesn't "bottom" against the bearing shell. That can wreak havoc with it. Torque to 65 lb. ft.

We use engine oil for the pushrods, rockers, etc. The lifters get the moly "paste" lube. The red stuff Comp supplies is good, too, as long as you're going to fire it up soon after assembly (a day or two, no more).

so i just thread the stud in by hand and get it finger-tight, and then slip the pump onto the stud and torque the nut to 65?

Yes, as long as "finger tight" means is goes in far enough to have no less than 7/16" of thread into the cap. Usually, the threads will "bottom" before the stud does. Rule of "thumb" is to have at minimum, the same distance into the part as ther diameter of the stud or bolt.
