Fuel pressure regulator

I have a 92 Regal with the 3.8 V6. I was troubleshooting hard to start when hot and poor idle issues on the car and was checking vacuum connections with the engine off. I took off the vacuum manifold to have a look at it, and noted gas leaking into it from the line running to the fuel pressure regulator. I took the vacuum hose off the vacuum side of the fuel pressure regulator and noted gas dripping out of it. Is this the sign of a pressure regulator that needs replaced, or is it just due to the pressure of the fuel injection system? I figured I would get some input before spending some dough on a new regulator. I am hoping this is the problem as it may resolve my hard to start problems if I am not getting proper pressure at the injectors. I have a fuel pressure gauge on the way, but have not been able to check pressures from the pump yet.

You need a new regulator.
