Fuel Pump Issue?

Hi, I filled my tank up 1 week ago and the fuel pump started making loud noise. After a day or two on my way to work the truck started losing power under acceleration. If i feather the gas pedal it gets up to speed just fine. If i step on it it bogs and starts backfiring. Now a week later the tank is almost empty and no promblems and the fuel pump sounds fine. Checked the fuel pressure and the reading was 44 psi. Thank's for any help on this issue. The year of the truck is a 1997 k1500 with a 5.7 liter engine.

You did not say what year or engine but that sounds low.
