Brakes Dont work, PLZ HELP!!!

Today i realized my brake lights werent working. When i took a look at them i realized the top brake light in the windshield was working fine, but the 2 bottom lights werent coming on. I checked the bulbs, and they were fine, and i also checked the fuses wich were also fine. Next i checked the brake light switch, where i realized it wasnt fastened very well. When i took that off and could operate it freely with my hand i still had no break lights. Using a test light i found out that i had no power going to my left and right brake light. I really have no idea what to do next, and now when i open the door to my car(even if the key isnt in the ignition) that annoying ding sound comes on. I have no clue what i would have done to make that happen. I have a 02 grand prix GT with about 50,000 miles on it.

Sounds like a problem with the multi-function switch. Unfortunaly I've never had to replace one in a grand prix, so I'm not sure how involved it is. Sometimes the steering wheel has to come off. Sometimes not. I'm fairly certain this is your problem though.

On the '97-'03 models Tim you can replace the MFS without removing the steering wheel and air bag module. About a 1 hour DIY job. I've got a link someplace.

Nice, thanks for the info! Good to know, and I'm glad its an easy DIY repair. The more I hear about my GP, the more happy with it I am. Gotta love the easy fuel pump R&R!
