Whats up guys. Ok check it out my brother was tryin to do a scan on my car but tried to start it with the obd2 cable connected..car started and quikly died, so I run over and pull the cable out and try to start it and same thing, starts up but after 2 seconds it shuts down and the security light comes on. So I figure its stuck in sec mode? I know there is a procedure to get it out. Does anyone know it? thanks ~Joe ps...after it dies the security light blinks for about 10 min then goes out, tried to restart and same thing happends

What brand of scanner was used? Did you try a different key? I've never heard of security mode, but its sounds as if maybe the scanner erased the PK3 data in the computer for your keys, and if the car shuts off like that with all of them, you might have to take it to a dealership to have it reprogrammed. Bring all your keys with you.
Try this and tell us what happens: get out, close all the doors, hit lock on the keyless entry pad, then hit unlock on the keypad, open the driver door, get in and attempt to start it with the key. What happens?

I tried that and still I get the same thing..arrr this is so frusturting, I have been tryin since this morning. I also tried a few reset procedures also by letting the sec light flash for 10 min until off then turn the key to lock and try to start, nothing. And for the scanner im not sure what type but he didnt even get to use it the second he pluged in the obd2 port then tried to start it and it all began. im assuming the pk3 system has some type of problem but i cant figure it out, there has to be a way other than the stealership..it will end up costing me a couple hundred if I go to them.
I also tried pulling the fuse for the pk3 system and no good, I only have one key so I cant try another..do you think if I have another made it can maybe relearn the new key or do you think I did something to the pk3 system in general? thanks for the help "T"....~Joe ps.. do you think if I ordered another zzp pcm it would work???

Uh, no, unfortunatly if that key isnt working, and you dont have a spair, purchasing one wont help because you need a working key in order to program a new one unless you have a tech two scan tool.

sh!t really? hmm, ok well I have been reading all day haha because I have no car and couldnt go out tonight let me ask you, I have been reading that the dealer will charge a fortune to fix it. I read that there are 3 p3 wires that run behind the radio to the left, they say if you start the car and as it is running(which on mine will be 2 seconds) you cut the yellow wire and it will shut off the security system and it will start and run normal i will just have the security light on. But at least I can drive it...so whats your opinion on that? should I try it, uness you have any other ideas I can try This is what I am doing tomorrow when I get up. Anyways thanks for the help bro. ~joe

I dont think I would cut any wires. It seems to me that someone else on the forum here found a way to bypass the PK3 system without having to mutilate any wiring. Cant quite remember their exact problem, but I think it may have been along the same line as yours

OK, I did it....I wanted to thank you for your help Tblake and I am going to post how I fixed it just in case someone googles and finds this and has the same issue.. well when my brother plugged that scanner in the obd2 port and started the car it must have sensed a drop or change in the voltage and activated the passlock 3 system. so this is what I did.
I read tons on google about letting it sit with the ignition on for 10 min and it will be all set, well this didnt work for me..so here is how to reset it by the book.
1, start car and let it die, let it sit for 10min untill security light goes out.
2, turn key to off for 5 second, then do it again start the car let sit untill light goes out for second time. turn to off for 5 seconds.
3, repeat this procedure for a total of 3 times in a spam of 30 minutes, on the last try the sytem will relearn and it will reset the passlock 3 system, and the car is back to normal..
I hope someone googling finds this and saves them some money, I cant tell you how many times tblake and Bob and all of the forum members have saved me money, I hope this helps someone like you guys have helped me...Thanks again... ~joe
