alright, i got to thinking...and i am ordering one for my GT. my question is...do you guys recommend having a shift kit when you have the PCM? i know it increases line pressure, so idk if i wanna put another shift kit in the tranny once its rebuilt. i REALLY dont wanna be putting ANOTHER tranny in this car 5 months down the road :screwy:

To start which v1.0 PCM do you plan on getting? As far as having a shift kit with the re-programmed PCM why not? I see no problems with it as long as you don't go with the real firm settings via the spacers since I am assuming this will be the typical 1-2, 2-3 accumulator mod. For example with the ZZP kit just use the recommended spacers which is the two 3/4" spacers on the back side of the pistons and the 1/2" on the front side of the 1-2 accumulator and 3/4" on the front side of the 2-3 accumulator. According to ZZP this is the best route to go to minimize any possible internal hardware damage.
I just completed installing the ZZP shift kit into my '01 Regal GS (L67) along with a pan drain plug and switch over to Dexron VI over the Dex III. I installed the DHP v1.0 PCM a couple of weeks ago. Also, the Filtran screen filter with ZZP's kit is the same as the AC Delco TF304 screen filter.

yeah, i have the ZZP shift kit in my SE and i really like it. i was just wondering cuz the PCM increases line pressure and makes shifts more firm. i was just wondering if increasing the line pressure would increase hard part failure even more on top of the shift kit...but now that i think about it...seems like a rediculous concept
anyways, i was going to order the one off ZZP.
I'm thinking about putting the SE up for sale...its gettin up there in miles. its time to mod the GT.

I see where you are coming from and the concern which I would be too since IMO ZZP is pretty radical on the way they program line pressure for PCS control and shift tables. If you had Performance Shift it would probably not be a concern since you can control line pressure and how it will shift. I see the following note from ZZP:
2001 and 2002 GTP PCM's ship with performance shift tables copied into the normal shift table of the PCM. If you want to add the performance shift button to your car, please specify in the comment line and we will leave the normal shift table stock.
Also, if the rebuild is done right you probably won't have to worry about it. People are installing both mods in Grand Prixs without a rebuilt tranny and high mileage with no issues. One thing I should point out is in the past some members had problems with the ZZP v1.0 PCM related to PCS issues but we could not determine if it was due to ZZP's programming or whether the member had a real underlying PCS issue. However, when the stock PCM was re-installed the PCS issue disappeared.
Another option is you could install Performance Shift in your GT. Mod is with the DHP but I see no reason why it shouldn't work wiith the ZZP PCM. See link below.
