Timing belt or chain

Alero 2.2 Ecotech

Hello,
I actually have two questions. I was told that the 2004 alero 2.2 ecotech motor has a timing chain. Is that right?
And the second question is, if I wanted to outfit my car with a V6, will the motor mounts and tranny permit it? Is there any real benifit to spend the money on a V6? What is the HP of that engine.

Thanks for your time.

The 2.2 Ecotec uses a timing chain.

170 hp and 200 lb-ft torque for the 3400 V6. The advantage to the 3400 is the aftermarket high performance parts available for it and it takes to mods quite well. So fast even the riceburners will say :wtf: after you blow their doors off. Good sleeper car.

The tranny if automatic is the same 4T45E and the V6 will no doubt fit but you would need the 3400 engine mounts and brackets. Also, you have to consider wiring harnesses and the PCM module since they are not the same. Probably not worth it.
