i have a firebird with the monsoon system in it. i already upgraded the front speakers, and added 2 10" subs. now the monsoon system comes with 2 6.5" subs in the sail panels. i was wondering if i could upgrade them and then power them with an amp, like my 10" subs, but obviously with a lower rms. so i guess im wondering if it would make a noticeable diffrence?

???? the sail panels are the little triangles on the door - on the inside of the side view mirrors.

2 10" subs should add plenty of bass ... making a "box" to enclose them into that spot might be tough.

adding more subs is never the awnser.. Get good quality stuff,
Quality > Quantity when it comes to car audio
beside, with 2 10's you wouldn't hear the 6.5s, so its kind of worthless and a waste of time/money

ok, I misread ..... I thought you wanted to put 10" subs where the 6 1/2" speakers are. That would be a REALLY good use of space.

lol yeah, if anybody has replaced the 6.5s with 10s, please send me a link. that would be awesome. ive seen people put 8s in there. but i dont really feel like cutting up my car.

well, you can find 10's that need less than 1 ft^3 .... thing is, you would have to totally fiberglass that inner pocket. The best thing to do with that spot is put 6.5" coaxes there or use a pair of 6.5 or 8's as midbass.
