how to replace air compressor

i have a 1989 chevy caprice, 305, non-police package. air compressor is making a loud screeching noise when the engine is running. i know where to get antoher compressor (junk yard) but, what would be the proper procedure to remove the old compressor? (considering the refrigerent lines to remove) and what would be the proper approach to install a replacement?
