Need Help On Where to Start

Ok so yeah my mom has the 93 4.0 4X4 Aerostar, well when ya try to start it smokes white badly and you must keep on the throttle to keep'er running and so called the Ford garage they suggest it sounds like the Fuel Pressure Regulator. So I was looking and from where I see its kind of behind the Alternator but not 100% sure if this is so how would you go about getting it out? There is barely room to get in there to the motor parts I need some suggestions from folks that's worked on these vans :) Thank y'all

I checked this out http://arrc.epnet.com.oh0049.oplin.org/autoasp/framerq.asp on how to do the replacement but doesn't say exactly where it is or how to get to it, from what I see on this truck is everything is in the way! I'd appreciate any help an aerostar mechanic can offer.
