1996 monte carlo ls tanny problem

hey, my car has a tranny problem. For the past 4 months it has been shifting hard from 1st to 2nd gear. And just last night it took a shit. It wont shift out of first gear at all now. Also i was in drive and rolling back like i was in neutral. There is also alot of shuddering when i give it gas which shook the whole car. Please help me!

I would guess the entire trans. needs to be overhauled.
