Hey friend, not sure if this will help much but had that same problem with my mothers ciera and it wound up being the clutch seloniod. It is an electrical componant inside the transmission. Shop wanted $600+ to replace this $25 part which sits inside transmission side cover.

I was brousing these threads for some other help myself so you may want to let the pros chime in but I thought I would mention that I had that same problem. Coming to a stop in her car was like trying to stop in a car with a stick shift because the clutch was not releasing. It would just bog and kill the motor. Hope this helps.

Also, the symtom you are describing sounds just like her car, it would only happen after car was driven for a while and tranny was good and warmed up. Often times, one of the signs a electrical componant is failing is that it is temperature sensitive.

Welcome to AF, common sense dictates that the code, year of the vehicle and symptoms be included in your post for any comprehensive help on this issue!
