hei vs. coil pack

I was curious as to whether or not an old HEI disrtibutor and cap off of a carburated V8 would work on a fuel injected motor with a coil pack? call me crazy but in my opinion i think that the HEI type distributors are more reliable. Any info would be great. Thanks guys!!!:runaround:
