That depends on the last 2 digits of your Social Security number and whether or not you have direct deposit,(those that get a paper check in the mail will have to wait a bit longer.) The full schedule for release is posted in this thread :http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=884938 go to post #38.

No extra form needed in this case. The IRS uses the info from your 1040 (or whatever form you used ) to get the info to deposit the check directly into your account. Make sure the account you used to deposit your check is still open and you haven't changed financial institutions, otherwise you will have to contact the IRS and notify them of the change in accounts.

It's been quite a few years now actually. You can get your refund a lot quicker than having a paper check mailed to you. I electronically submitted my return on February 4, 2008 and received the check in my account on February 21, 2008. There is a portion at the bottom of the return where you can write your bank's info and your account number you'd like the refund deposited to.

oh ok i see how it works. i'm still kinda skeptical about this refund check. I guess because i'm married now my wife and i will be getting 600. seems too good to be true.

It is my understanding that the "rebates" are in $300 increments. $300 for single taxpayers, $600 for married filed jointly, and then $300 for each eligible dependent child.

Hmm. I thought they only deposited the rebates into your account on Mondays, and when they start mailing out the checks later in the month , that will be on a Monday also. Oh well, if you don't see it in your account tomorrow, then that means it might show up Monday.Let us know.

It is too good to be true. According to CNN (http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/08/pf/taxes/rebates_what_you_need_to_know/) it is an advance on next years tax return so you can expect to get $600 less then.

Not necessarily. Here is the quote from the CNN site you linked to:
"It's based on your 2007 income initially. If it turns out that your 2008 income and number of children would have qualified you for a larger rebate than the one you received, you'll be sent the difference. If it turns out your 2008 income was lower than in 2007 and you should have gotten a lower rebate, you get to keep the difference."
The way our (local) media outlets and IRS are telling us is that you will receive your tax refund if you are to get one when you file your taxes by next April 15. There'll be a line on the tax return where you put the amount you receive this year on the rebate, and if it is found that you didn't get enough by the calculations, then you'll get an additional amount ( for which you should've received this year.) If it is found that you were overpaid, then you can keep the extra amount. The original intention for the stimulus checks was supposed to be paid from another fund, ( I know,I know, a "fund" paid by our taxes so in effect it was our money to begin with:grinyes:.) It wasn't meant to come from next years' refunds or taxes paid from your 1040. That's why if you are overpaid you won't have to pay it back or be taxed on it in the future. There are a lot of misconceptions being reported and it makes it more confusing to a lot of people.

this just occurred to me. Will they take my stimulous check and use that tords my arears for child support? I know sometimes your taxes can be help to pay past due child support, but they haven't done that to me. they really only do it when your not making payments. i've never missed a child support payment, it come directly out of my pay check. i Did receive my tax refund this yr, so why would they take away the stimulous money. i'm just pissed cause i haven't got any money yet. i need that money to move damnit.

I called H&R block, cause thats were i did my taxes, and the guy told me that i won't have my stimulous check direct deposite because they won't have the proper account. this is because H&R block receives loans from HSBC for the tax returns so i got my tax return deposited in my account from HSBC. So he told me i'll get a paper check. which doesn't make any fucking sense. So i called the IRS hotline to figure out the status of my stimulous check, and the recording says sorry we cannot give out any specific information. i'm pissed.
