Hello all. I was wondering what would cause random multiple misfires. My check engine light comes on from time to time. I had it checked and the mechanic said it was this. The light doesn't stay on all the time. Just comes on randomly and stays on for different lengths of time. Could the Intake Manifold gasket being causing this? Thanks for any help.

Could be intake gasket, though there are usually other codes along with it. Could be the plugs are going bad or the wrong type installed. '01 uses ion sensing ignition system which uses the plugs as a sensor. Its very picky about the condition of the plugs as well has having the right ones installed. Also if the plugs have been removed before its possible the coil packs got swapped. The one for cylinder #6 is different then the rest.

Thanks Gizmo. I do believe that a tune up was done on it before I got it. I will have to find out. Thanks for all the useful info. This site is really good.
