Howdy!

I'll be in San Antonio tomorrow and am wondering if there are any good hobby shops there for car models. Hobby Center had a great selection but they are closed now. Are there any others?

Thank for any help.

Hello fellow San Antonian!

There are a few left but the nicest one IMHO, Hobby Center, is gone. They used to carry lots of stuff for us Car Modelers. They had a case full of detail parts and one whole Isle of car kits. But the building Rex was in for 40 some-odd years was bought and the new owners gave 'em the boot.

The ones I know about now are Dibble's Hobbies on Donaldson, Hobbytown USA on Austin Highway on the NE side and Al's hobbies on the west side at 90w and 410. Dibbles carries a few cars but can pretty much order anything you need. On top of that, they are heavy into trains so there are lots of stuff good for scratchbuilding. Hobbytown is Hobbytown but I haven't been there in a long time. Al's hobbies is mostly RC Cars but does have some nice kits. I haven't asked them about ordering anything special though. Other than that, Hobby Lobby and Michael's are about it for new kits as the Wally-Worlds and Targets don't carry kits any more. I have been doing mail order more and more.

Thanks for the reply. It's too bad the Hobby Center's gone.
