MAF's

What is the differance in MAF's from 98 to 99 and newer? I was looking on zzp and they only have them for 99 and newer and i have a 98 and was thinking about geting a new this summer.

There is a slight difference in design. The one for 99-03 3800's will not work in prior years.

My MAF recently went out and rather than but a new one from zzp for 119.00, I bought a stage 1 throttle body for 190.00. It came with new TPS, MAF, and IAC. ZZP has them available for the L36 and L67 as well as years 1997-newer.

Just to add to that the internal calibration electronically is slightly different and the 97-98 MAFs normally do not have the plastic tube covering the wire element with the thermistors as do the 99 and up.

tblake could you feel the difference between the to? Has any one els put a stage 1 on a stock gt can you feel the power and is there any more MPG with it? Thanks for the info tblake and BNaylor

Bob (bnaylor) has one too. He probably could notice a difference with all his mods, But I use my GTP as a daily driver, so no, I dont rod on it, and I didnt notice any difference, that doesnt mean its not there. MPG increased since then, but I'm attributing that to the warmer weather.

Got ya thanks. It nice to finaly get some nice weather up in northern MN it was nice for a few weeks then we got three feet of snow in a week its april whats the deal but its MN if you don't like the weather wait 5 mins it will change. lol

I would also say that girls outside with tighter and equally smaller clothes are due to the warmer weather.
