General Metro models

Does anyone know what years the Geo metro xfi 1.0L was made? And what year they added the 575lbs of safety upgrades?

I believe the XFi began in 1990 and ended in '94. The heavy cars start in 1995 with the rounder body style, air bags and reinforcements for side-impact collisions.

XFI was 89 - 94, they have all black bumpers. There is a theory that there was no base model in 89, either XFI or LSI. Not verified yet, if anyone here has an 89 with the painted top section on the bumpers and sealed beam headlights, let us know.

Bigger, heavier, "safety" cars went from 95 - 01. Not quite 575 pounds, but substantially heavier.
