My buddy's got a '77 Chevy Monte Carlo that we're currently restoring. The front "core support" was rotted beyond repair so we're looking for a new one. Neither of us are having any luck finding one anywhere. Am I using the wrong term? I'm referring to the metal crosspiece that spans the two front fenders. The radiator and condensor mount onto it. This is basically what holding us back at this point. If anyone know any other term or any place or website that might have what I'm looking for please let me know. I really appreciate any information at all. Thanks in advance everyone!

Try Keystone aftermarket parts.

I know Original parts group would sell one and here is their website: www.opgi.com A junkyard is not one option, most yards crushed the old stuff due to prices of crush cars.

Well, unfortunately OPGI doesn't have one for any of the '70s Monte Carlos. I googled Keystone aftermarket parts and came up with tons of websites. I'm not sure which one is the right one. I sent an email to one of the many keystone sites in hopes of getting somewhere, but it's sort of a waiting game right now. I appreciate your help guys! I'm always open to any more suggestions.

Try www.car-part.com , or Hemmings Motor News. There are many private sale ads and ads for salvage yards in the South and West that carry rust free parts in Hemmings, along with ads for resto companies that might have that part. There is a national Monte Carlo owners group in the US and I believe they have a newsletter. Many of these national car associations have ads from members and that might be a source as well.
Too bade you weren't looking a couple of years ago as I had one from one of the '70s Montes I had, to which I got rid of because nobody wanted it. I believe 1973 to 1977 should fit ,(at least '76-'77 with the rectangular headlights.)to broaden your search criteria.

Very cool. Thanks! Car-Part.com seems to have a bunch actually. I'm gonna start calling some of the dealers to see if any of them will ship. Thanks again guys!

I gaurentte most yards crushed the old stuff due to the high price of crushed car.I found two more in a magazine.

Most yards may have crushed them but there are "specialty yards" out there that specialize in older car parts and know the value of them to restorers and generally hold them in inventory rather than crush them or otherwise get rid of them.
